Interpreting Prices & Conditions

Rates

• Standard Rate
  The initial fee covers up to two hours of interpreting services.
  • $150.00 Initial Fee + $60.00 for each additional hour
• Legal Rate
  This rate reflects the additional training, certifications, and expertise required for legal settings (courtroom services, depositions, and attorney-client meetings).
  • $150.00 Initial Fee + $75.00 for each additional hour
• Subcontractor Rate
  If I am procuring additional interpreters for your assignment or you need a single bill for all of the interpreters on a given assignment, I am happy to provide those services. There will be a service charge of $10/hour per interpreter. Please ask for a specific quote for your assignment as interpreter fees vary and cannot be guaranteed until a specific interpreter has been identified.
• Miscellaneous Rate
  Differential rates for platform, performance, deaf-blind (tactile), or otherwise more demanding assignments will be negotiated at the time a request is made. Please note that performance assignments are negotiated per assignment and not per hour.

Reimbursable Charges

I do not charge for mileage, parking, tolls, trains, or metro. However, if I contract other interpreters for your assignment these charges may apply and will be negotiated at the time of contract.

Travel Time Charges

Assignments requiring more than 1.5 hours of commuting time in one direction will be billed at the hourly rate for the driving time roundtrip. This may or may not apply to all assignments at your location. If the assignment can be moved outside of prime commuting hours, I may be able to waive the travel charge.

Travel outside of the Metro DC area

Assignments will be negotiated at the time of the request and may include a day rate and/or reimbursement for airfare, hotel, and rental cars.

Coverage

Assignments will require a second interpreter if they are two or more hours in length, require platform interpreting, or are otherwise technically/physically demanding. I can arrange for this at the rates quoted above or provide you with referrals.

Cancellations and No-Shows

Cancellations must be made by close of business 3 days prior to the assignment or the job will be billed. Assignments that require travel outside of the DC Metro area (radius of 150 miles) require additional planning, travel purchases, and hotel confirmation. These assignments require two week's notice and may be billed for expenses already incurred. No-Shows are billed without exception.

Inclement Weather Policy

I have taken effort to ensure that I am prepared to handle all manner of inclement weather. I will cancel without cost only when a weather emergency has been officially declared by the local authorities. Cancellations due to inclement weather will be billed unless otherwise negotiated.

Payment Terms

Net due 30 days from the invoice date. Invoices paid late will be assessed an additional 5.0% for each additional 30 day period. I can accept credit card payments in person, by fax, or over the phone. Please do not email the credit card number as this is not a secure format.
